Safety in practice
One of the main elements of the programme was the “Safety and First Aid” outdoor game, prepared together with the Choczewo Volunteer Fire Brigade. At five successive stations, participants learned in practice the most important rules for responding to situations that threaten health and life.
At the first station, participants could practise reporting an incident to the 112 emergency number. The next task involved using an automated external defibrillator (AED). The cardiopulmonary resuscitation exercises attracted considerable interest: using training manikins, participants learned how to assess a casualty’s condition and perform chest compressions at the correct rate. Another station focused on assisting an unconscious person who is breathing, while at the final station participants learned the procedure for responding to choking.
Each participant received a special card containing instructions and basic information on safety and first aid. After completing all the tasks and collecting a full set of stamps, participants could receive prizes and gifts prepared for the occasion, including first-aid kits.
