PGE Baltica and Ørsted engage with local communities through information meetings on the Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Farm

PGE and Ørsted are jointly developing the Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Farm project. Following the start of offshore foundation installation in May 2026 – so called monopiles – and with onshore construction progressing steadily, the partners organized a series of public information meetings for residents of the communities affected by the project. The meetings took place between 26 and 28 May 2026 in the villages of Kopalino and Kierzkowo in the Choczewo municipality, as well as in Ustka. During these meetings, the project developers presented the latest information on Baltica 2, including the construction schedule and the current progress of works.
The installation of foundations marks one of the key milestones in the project and paves the way for the next phase of offshore construction, including the installation of wind turbines and power transmission infrastructure. A total of 111 monopiles will be installed offshore – 107 for wind turbines and four for offshore electrical substations. The commencement of foundation installation is in line with the intensive offshore construction schedule planned for 2026. Once this phase is completed, the next steps will include the installation of export cables, which will connect the offshore wind farm to Poland's national power grid via the onshore grid connection infrastructure, as well as the installation of offshore electrical substations. During the subsequent project phases in 2027, inter-array cables will be installed, and the wind turbines will be erected.

At the same time, construction continues on the onshore electrical substation and grid connection infrastructure in the Choczewo municipality in the Pomeranian region. According to the project schedule, this part of the development is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Construction is also progressing on the operations and maintenance (O&M) base in Ustka, which will support the Baltica 2 project throughout its operational lifetime of at least 30 years.
The meetings were designed as a two-way dialogue. In addition to presenting project updates, the organizers answered residents' questions and collected their comments and feedback regarding the planned development. Discussions focused on issues of particular importance to local communities, including construction activities during the summer holiday season, the development of local infrastructure, and potential areas of cooperation in education and workforce development. The meetings were attended by representatives of local organizations and community groups, including village leaders, volunteer fire brigades, rural women's associations, representatives of the local school, and a university from Słupsk.

Regular engagement with local communities is an integral part of the project delivery process, and maintaining good relationships with residents remains a key priority for the Baltica 2 developers. It is worth noting that participants generally expressed positive views about the development of offshore wind farms.
PGE and Ørsted plan to complete construction of the approximately 1.5 GW Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Farm by the end of 2027. Once operational, the offshore wind farm will generate enough renewable electricity to supply approximately 2.5 million households.
